Jamii Power (Swahili for 'community' power) aims is to provide rural electrification in isolated communities through the use of smart mini-grid systems powered by renewable energy. We are in the business of laying the groundwork for providing sustainable, clean and affordable 230V AC electricity to highly marginalised communities throughout Tanzania, through isolated smart mini-grid systems that are powered by decentralized renewable energy sources such as solar, biomass, wind and hydro. Thanks to the support from USADF’s Powering Africa initiative and the Energy and Environment Partnership Africa, we have designed a new community power model that comprises of smart metering, low-cost grid architecture and renewable power generation that is easily deployable.
