Fikra is a travel initiative that seeks to bring foreigners an impactful and energy-packed experience of Tanzania while showcasing Africa’s intellectual capacity by engaging the participants in meaningful, Afrocentric and research-based thoughts, facilitated by locals. We aim to change the narrative of a poor, helpless and needy Africa to a more nuanced story as a wealthy continent in terms of resources, people and culture, fostering the continuous belief that Africans are powerful enough to encourage the further development of what is already a rapidly developing continent. Fikra is against harmful voluntourism and also aims to create an alternative that withdraws the negative effects of this harmful practice. We promote a constantly truthful representation of Africa as well as fun, educative experiences for tourists on the continent. Fikra invites you not to come teach in Africa but rather to come and learn in Africa!
